an interactive, family-friendly concert

Soprano Emily Gallagher and pianist Caleb Yanez Glickman present “Enchanted Melodies” - a family friendly concert that introduces children to classical music through fairy tales. During this interactive concert, the audience will be part of the story as they sing, dance, and craft to tell the stories they know in new ways. Audiences will leave creatively stimulated by being an active participant in the presentation, and with a greater knowledge and appreciation of classical music.

About the Artists

Emily Gallagher is a soprano and community based artist working in the United States and Austria. This season she has been seen performing Shattered Storybook, an original solo concert at Balance Arts Center in NYC, Gretel in Hansel and Gretel and Adele (cover) in Die Fledermaus with Pacific Opera Project, John F. Kennedy in the world premiere of Minute to Midnight with Synchromy, and in concert in Savannah, Georgia, Vienna, Austria; and Valletta, Malta. As a 2022-23 Fulbright Scholar to Austria, she worked with the multimedia production company TaleSpin—Musical Tales for Big and Small to produce an original children’s concert series and picture book available in four languages

Additional projects this season included Assistant Director for the world premiere of Sherlock Holmes and the Case of the Fallen Giant with Opera Modesto, Artist-In-Residence at the Southern California Children’s Museum, and participant in the 2024 Opera for Peace Academy in Rome and Paris. Upcoming engagements include First Wood Sprite in Rusalka with Pacific Opera Project and her solo recital Women Have Loved Before featuring the music of Margaret Bonds which will be performed in Vienna with her collaborator Donna Suenyan Chan.

 

Praised for his “superb” leadership of the orchestra, Caleb Yanez Glickman is a conductor and coach based in Los Angeles. He is the music director of the Harmony Project’s Hollywood Youth Orchestra, an El-Sistema style orchestra program. Last year he was the music director of the award-winning production of Pacific Opera Project’s The Pirates of Penzance.

He has recently worked on music staff with Opera Southwest, Opera in the Ozarks, Pittsburgh Festival Opera, and Opera Saratoga. This season he was also music director for POP’s productions of Scalia/Ginsburg, Trial by Jury and Die Fledermaus. With Opera Modesto, he worked as a pianist and conductor with the Summer Opera Institute before conducting the world premiere of Sherlock Holmes and the Case of the Fallen Giant in January.

In addition to being an accomplished singer and pianist, Caleb is also a violinist and flutist. He is a zealous advocate of both new music and new approaches to bringing music to communities. In addition to his work with the Story Into Song Initiative, he is the music director of a first ever double bill entitled Transport, of Jake Heggie’s Another Sunrise and Handel’s Judas Maccabeus with The Why Collective.
